What’s New at Sound Sports Performance and Training LLC! 📰

🏆 TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!

I’ll be taking the stage again tonight at the 2026 IMPACT Pitch Competition, hosted by Business Impact NW!

Someone recently asked me:

“Why do you keep doing these pitch competitions? What do you get out of it?”

My answer was simple:

“I am a competitor.”

I like to test myself. I enjoy testing my public speaking, putting myself in uncomfortable situations, and networking with other like-minded business owners in a professional setting.

I also want to be an inspiration to others.

Yes, putting yourself out there means opening yourself up to critique, criticism, and sometimes… unwanted advice. 😂

But I love it.

Because growth doesn’t happen when you stay comfortable.

And there’s another reason I enjoy these competitions: YOU.

You all have been an integral part of the growth of Sound Sports Performance & Training. Every athlete, parent, coach, Everyday Athlete, OG, team, and supporter has contributed to this journey.

So when I get on that stage, I don’t just get to talk about my business.

I get to brag about you all, too!

🎤 COME WATCH THE PITCH!

The competition starts at 5:30 PM, and my pitch is scheduled for 6:20 PM.

After the last pitch, the marketing videos for each contestant will play again. As a virtual audience member, you’ll have the opportunity to vote AS MANY TIMES AS THE SYSTEM ALLOWS! 😂

So tune in, show some love, and support Sound Sports Performance & Training!

Whether you’re watching from the facility, your couch, your car, or somewhere else around the country, I appreciate every single person who takes the time to tune in.

Let’s go! 💪🏾

🌴 WIN OR LOSE… I’VE GOT A MINI VACATION ON THE MIND!

Win or lose—because apparently spellcheck doesn’t participate in pitch competitions 😂—I’ve got a mini vacation on the mind.

Friday morning, I’m heading to California to see my oldest kid!

This trip is extra special because he is the first athlete from Sound Sports Performance & Training to go on to compete in his sport at the collegiate level.

That’s a pretty cool milestone for SSP&T.

The good news?

I’ll get to spend some quality time with my boy.

The bad news?

I won’t get to see him run. 😩

He’s one of the top seven runners for Concordia University Irvine, and his coach is saving him and the other top runners for a big invitational in Illinois the following weekend. So I guess I’ll just have to soak up some California sun, spend some time with my son, and get some much-needed rest. ☀️😎

I’m incredibly proud of him and proud that SSP&T has been a small part of his journey from athlete to collegiate student-athlete.

That’s what this is all about.

✈️ COACHES ARE GETTING AWAY TOO!

I’m not the only one taking a little break. Coach Maddie is heading to Oklahoma to spend some time with family and will be back on Monday.

That means our newest coach, Caleb Headen, will be running the show while we’re gone.

So y’all be nice to him in our absence! 😂

Give Caleb a warm welcome, help him out, and show him the same SSP&T love you show the rest of the coaching staff.

We’ll all be back to full strength on October 4!

🎀 OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

October also kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in the United States over the course of their lifetime, and men can develop breast cancer as well, accounting for about 1% of breast cancer cases.

This isn’t just a statistic.

Breast cancer has affected members of our own community.

So this month, Sound Sports Performance & Training wants to use our platform to:

🎀 Highlight strong breast cancer survivors within our community

📣 Raise awareness through social media

🩷 Encourage conversations about early detection and screening

🤝 Support an organization working to help people affected by breast cancer

With more than 100 young ladies now training at SSP&T, it felt only right that we support a cause that affects so many women and families.

🩷 PINK IS COMING TO SSP&T!

You’re going to start seeing pink all around the facility this month—including some special promotional shirts.

👕 Shirts are $20

And we’re putting our money where our mouth is:

50% of the proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation focuses on early detection, education, and support for people affected by breast cancer.

So grab a shirt, wear it proudly, and help us turn SSP&T pink for October! 🎀

🤝 SERVANT LEADERSHIP

Black-Owned Business Excellence

October also brings a time for planning, preparation, and looking ahead.

As an Executive Officer for Black-Owned Business Excellence (BOBE), I wanted to make sure our SSP&T community knows that nominations are now open for the 2027 Community & Business Leadership Awards.

🏋🏾‍♂️ THE NSCA NOOK

October is also bringing plenty of work on the NSCA side of things.

I’ll be meeting with my Advisory Board to begin planning the 2027 NSCA Washington State Clinic.

One of our goals is to expand our reach geographically. We’re currently looking for a location in Tacoma or farther south so that we can better serve strength & conditioning professionals in Southern Washington and Oregon.

If you know of a great facility, college, university, or venue that could host the clinic, let me know!

📚 Getting Even More Involved with NSCA

I’m also planning to apply for the LIFT Committee within the NSCA.

📖 CSCS Exam Prep Clinic

Last month, we also hosted a successful Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Exam Prep Clinic at Seattle University.

It was two days of didactic instruction and practical application, and it was great to see coaches putting in the work to prepare for one of the most respected certifications in the strength & conditioning profession.

To everyone sitting for the exam this year:

Good luck!

Remember what Max Richman said during the clinic:

“It’s a hard exam, but beatable.”

You’ve put in the work. Now go execute.

🌵 Looking Ahead to November

I’ll also be traveling to Arizona in November to speak at the Arizona State Clinic.

So the work continues!

🏒🏃🏾‍♀️ SPORTS TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

Our athletes have been putting in some work!

🏆 Fury 16U

Both Fury 16U teams competed in local tournaments and finished 2nd in their respective brackets!

That’s a great showing, ladies.

Nice job! 👏🏾

Keep putting in the work and keep getting better.

🏒 Seattle Redhawks

I also finally got the opportunity to get over to the Lynnwood Ice Center to watch the 16U and 19U Seattle Redhawks Hockey teams compete.

And let me tell you…

Those teams were fun to watch! 🔥

Seeing athletes that train with us take what they do in the weight room and translate it onto the ice is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.

Strength & conditioning isn’t the game.

It prepares you for the game.

And these athletes are showing what that preparation can look like.

🔮 LOOKING AHEAD TO NOVEMBER

October is already packed, but we’re not slowing down.

As we head into November, we’ll continue to focus on:

💪🏾 Training hard
🧠 Developing stronger people—not just stronger athletes
🤝 Building community
🏆 Supporting our teams
📚 Growing the strength & conditioning profession
❤️ Giving back

And, of course…

getting 1% better every day.

Thank you for continuing to be part of the Sound Sports Performance & Training family.

Whether you’re an athlete, parent, coach, Everyday Athlete, OG, team partner, supporter, or someone who simply believes in what we’re building—

I appreciate you.

You are part of this story.

Let’s keep building.

Stronger People. Stronger Professionals. Stronger Community.
