August 2026 Newsletter

Can you believe July is already behind us? Time is flying, and it’s hard to believe we’re already into the second half of 2026. Summer has been full of growth, opportunities, and milestones, and we have plenty happening as we head toward an exciting fall season.

Thank You, Charlie & Maria!

August 7 marks the final day for our high school interns, Charlie and Maria. You both have been an incredible addition to the facility, and you’ll definitely be missed.

Charlie, best of luck as you begin your junior year, and Maria, congratulations as you head into your senior year! Thank you both for your hard work, positive attitudes, and willingness to learn. You’ll always have a home here at Sound Sports Performance & Training, and our doors will always be open to you.

Back in the Impact Pitch Competition

We’re excited to announce that Sound Sports Performance & Training has advanced to Round 3 of the Business Impact NW Impact Pitch Competition!

Some of you may remember that two years ago I competed in this same event and was honored to win Best Marketing Video.

Rounds 1 and 2 focused on the community we serve, our business operations and strategies, and the value we provide. Round 3, due August 10, is all about the numbers. If we advance, the final rounds include producing another marketing video and delivering a live pitch for a chance to win the $10,000 grand prize, which would be reinvested directly back into our business and the community we serve.

Thank you all for your continued encouragement and support—it truly means everything.

Bittersweet Season

One of the hardest parts of coaching is watching athletes you’ve poured into move on to the next chapter of life. Whether it’s military service, college, or beginning a career, it’s always a mix of pride, excitement, and just a few tears.

That feeling hits home personally this month as well. On August 12, I’ll be flying to California to help my oldest child begin their college journey. I’ll return on the 15th, and while I’m away, our assistant coaches will be holding down the fort. I know our athletes will be in great hands.

Staying Connected to Our Community

August is packed with meetings as we continue building relationships throughout our community. I’ll be meeting with the Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce, the Lynnwood Parks & Recreation Foundation, Black Owned Business Excellence (BOBE), and the African American Leaders and Professional Network (AALPN).

These partnerships help us stay engaged, collaborate with other leaders, and continue finding ways to grow while creating more opportunities for our athletes and families.

Even Coaches Need a Day Off!

Believe it or not…I actually took some time to relax!

If you know me, you know concerts aren’t really my thing, but I had a great time watching Musiq Soulchild perform at Umoja Fest 2026 in Seattle. We even caught a few of the Blue Angels putting on an incredible show overhead.

Now I want to hear from you! What’s something fun you’ve done this summer? I’d love to hear about your adventures the next time you’re in the gym.

Fall Is Coming…and It’s Going to Be Busy!

As summer winds down, we’re getting ready for one of our busiest seasons yet.

Beginning September 8, we’re expecting between 80 and 115 youth athletes training during our evening sessions. The facility will definitely be buzzing between 5:00 and 7:00 PM.

For our adult members who normally train during those hours—don’t worry! We’re adjusting coach schedules and programming to make sure everyone continues receiving the attention and coaching they deserve. We’ll share additional scheduling details as everything is finalized.

We’re incredibly excited about the growth happening here and can’t wait to welcome so many new athletes into the SSPT family.

Thank You

As always, thank you for trusting us with your fitness, your goals, and your families. Every athlete, parent, member, and supporter plays a part in making this community so special.

I love y’all, and I’m grateful that you’re part of the Sound Sports Performance & Training family. Let’s finish the summer strong and head into an amazing fall together!

Train with purpose. Grow together. Be relentless.
