🗳️ It’s That Time of Year to VOTE!

No matter your political beliefs or which candidates you support, there’s one thing we all have in common…
We’re fans of Sound Sports Performance and Training!
(At least I hope you love it here!)
If you do, now’s your chance to show some love. We’re part of a couple of community “popularity contests,” and your vote can help us keep making noise and stay relevant in the community.

🏆 Best of Lynnwood – Health Category

We’re proud to announce that Sound Sports Performance and Training is once again a finalist for Best of Lynnwood in the Health category — the same award we won last year!
Let’s defend our title and keep the crown! 👑
🗓️ Voting opens Wednesday, October 22
🗓️ Voting closes Friday, November 21
🏁 Winners will be announced February 18, 2026
Cast your vote and help us stay the reigning champs!

Let’s run up the count before then and show Lynnwood that Sound Sports remains the best in the business!

💼 Black-Owned Business Excellence (BOBE) Awards

The second voting opportunity comes from an organization close to my heart — Black Owned Business Excellence (BOBE).
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because I was honored to be both a speaker and planning committee member for last year’s event.
The 2026 Symposium, themed
“Power Moves – Beyond Boundaries: From VISION to LEGACY”
will take place on February 1, 2026.
This event celebrates entrepreneurs, community builders, and organizations who embody innovation, influence, and impact. BOBE recognizes individuals and businesses who exemplify their mission — advancing Black business growth, closing the wealth gap, and creating generational change through collaboration, leadership, and excellence.
Each award recipient receives a $1,000 grant and is honored live at the Seventh Annual BOBE Symposium.
If you have a few minutes, please take the time to vote Sound Sports Performance and Training for The Lewis Rudd Legacy in Business Award (Long-Standing Business).
Named in honor of Lewis Rudd, this award recognizes a Black-owned business operating 10+ years that has withstood the tests of time — from economic challenges to social injustice — and continues to grow with excellence. This honoree represents the endurance, innovation, and influence that sustain our collective legacy.

🏗️ New Gym Update – We’re Almost There!

We’re getting so close to the opening of our new gym home at Triton Court!
✅ Flooring is in
✅ Walls are painted
✅ Bathrooms are being finished
✅ New equipment is scheduled to arrive early this month
It’s been a long journey, but the finish line is in sight — and we can’t wait for you to see it!
To help us make the final push, we’re hosting a Field Day on November 21 & 22.
Now, this isn’t the kind of field day you had in elementary school — it’s more like the kind you’d see in the military: a full day of cleaning, packing, and moving all our gear into its new home.
Come lend a hand, check out the new space, and be part of this exciting transition.
It’s going to take teamwork to get it done — and we’d love for you to be part of it.

🎁 Toys for Tots – Let’s Crush Last Year’s Goal!

We’ve brought out the Toys for Tots boxes, and we need your help!
The mission of Marine Toys for Tots is to bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s economically disadvantaged children through the gift of a new toy.
Last year, we filled 4 boxes — this year, let’s crush that record!
Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy at the facility. Every single contribution helps make the holidays brighter for kids who need it most.

Honoring Our Veterans – November 10 & 11

As a proud Marine Corps veteran, this is always a special time of year.
Join us on November 10 and 11 as we take a moment to honor all who have served — especially the men and women who’ve sacrificed so much to protect our freedom.
Thank you for your service and your continued example of courage, discipline, and leadership.

⏰ Don’t Forget Daylight Savings – November 2

Friendly reminder to set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 2.
Enjoy that extra hour of sleep — you’ve earned it!

🏅 Fall Athletes – Championship Season

Our fall athletes are heading into championship season, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Good luck to everyone competing for a postseason run — bring your best and represent the Sound Sports family with pride!

🏡 Personal Update – Limited Hours November 25–30

After five long years, I finally get to travel home to see my family!
Even more exciting — my oldest niece is having her first baby!
From November 25–30, the facility will have limited hours so I can spend some much-needed time with loved ones. Thank you for your patience and understanding — family means everything, and I can’t wait to share this joy with mine.

📅 Upcoming Meetings & Events

I’ve got a couple of important meetings coming up this month as well:
November 7: NSCA’s PDG/SIG Chair Meeting
November 13: Parks and Recreation Foundation Board Retreat
These are great opportunities to collaborate, learn, and bring back fresh ideas to strengthen our programs and community partnerships.
