Summer is officially here, and things are getting hot! There are so many exciting things going on in July, and this is a time for kickbacks, cookouts, and competition. From watching high level athletes competing on the largest global stage to youth tournaments from every summer sport imaginable, it's sure to be a great beginning to the season! Here is what's going on locally:
July 4: The facility will be closed for Independence Day. If you don't already have plans and want to come watch a parade, my daughter will be marching in the Bothell 4th of July parade with her Bothell Jr. Cheer Squad. Me, as the cheer dad I am, will attend.
July 12: I still have two tickets to play in the Lynnwood Par 4 Parks Golf Tournament. The tournament is put on by the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce, and offers a chance to win $100,000, a brand-new Lexus, and chance to compete in The Longest Drive and Hole in One competition. Whoever takes these tickets will also receive two meal vouchers for breakfast and lunch. Sound Sports Performance and Training is sponsoring a hole and will have a booth. In my absence, my assistants for the day, Trista Pelayo and Cassie Knapp, will be holding it down for us while I am in Baltimore.
July 9-16: The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) will be conducting its annual National Conference in Baltimore, MD. As the State Director of Washington, my presence is mandatory. This will be my second time attending the NatCon, but this one is very special. In April of last year, I was appointed as the State Director for Washington despite facing a lot of pushback and naysaying from past Advisory Board Members. Despite their opposition to me being appointed, I never took the position lightly, and my tenacity and persistence was not in vain. On July 12, I will be receiving the NSCA State Director of the Year Award. The State and Provincial Director of the Year Award is given to a state or provincial director who has achieved leadership excellence in this position through their local community activities and other involvement with the NSCA.
During my time away, Coach Austin will be running the show at the gym. He's excited to work with you all and rise to the challenge of added responsibilities. I'll do my best to schedule everyone in advance as well as collect payments if need be, but I am fully confident that my guy can handle it all! If you need to reach him directly, his phone number is (425)215-2723.
July 20: Join us for our second community event of the year. We invite you and your family to hang out with us at Bothell Landing Park. For those who don't have their own paddleboard or kayak, Whats SUP Standup Paddleboard and Surf company has them for rent by the hour. My intent is to arrive early to snag a BBQ pit and set up our big canopy. As a token of our appreciation to you all, I will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, and non alcoholic beverages for everyone. If you could bring a side dish to share with everyone, that would be lovely. Below is the details:
Location: Bothell Landing Park 9999 NE 180th St Bothell, WA. 98011
Time: 12pm-4ish
What to bring: paddleboards, kayaks, floaties, side dish, cheer and joy!
