Fundamental Exercise Development (F.E.D.)

This group training session is designed for pre-teens and adolescents to develop fundamental exercise techniques for injury prevention, and the formation of muscular endurance, strength, and power.   These skills are taught using a variety of proven research methods and are carefully supervised by our Head Strength and Conditioning coach. 

Purpose Statement:  As kids go through stages of adolescence (early stage ages 10-13, middle stage ages 14-17, and late stage ages 18-21), maturation, puberty, social, pee,r and parental influences start to shape their lives.

The purpose of these classes is multi-fold.

  • Teaching our young ones the proper doses of exercise with good techniques, progressions and regressions of basic movement patterns.
  • Camaraderie of peers that are at various yet similar stages of relatedness.
  • Positive role modeling from an experienced coach.

Functional Movement Screening

  • Assessing seven movement patterns
  • Corrective exercise for faulty movement patterns

Strength and Conditioning

  • Body weight training through calisthenics
  • Beginner weight training using dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, and barbells
  • Beginner weight training using dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, and barbells

Speed, Agility, and Quickness Training (SAQ)

  • Training the ability to start, stop, and change direction
  • 1st Step Quickness
  • metabolic conditioning designed to target all three energy systems.

Run Training

  • Run Mechanics
  • Run Economy

Rest and Recovery Strategies

  • Stretching
  • Self Myofascial Release
  • Hydration and sleep
